TASK 2 - Summarise: Deer are not a native animal in New Zealand. Write one paragraph to explain how and why deer came to be in New Zealand bush

First the europeans came to NZ and found that there were too many plants, grass so they decided to clean them all up and make the place for farms. Soon they sent animals such as deers to NZ since the boats would take a long time some animals can get dizzy, and even die. Once the animals arrived they starting giving birth to more of them, the popularity was growing and growing, and the bad thing was there were no predators so they all were living in peace, but since the popularity was always growing they had to eat more, soon the grass and plants were all eaten, some even starved to death. Now the europeans and to find hunters and let them hunt for some of the animals, some hunters were even brought from other countries and were persuaded to come to NZ and hunt. I think the reason why the europeans brought animals to NZ was because they weren't used to the animals and the food that was in NZ.

TASK 3: CREATE: A poster, either for or against hunting deer. It must clearly explain your reasons WHY you, based on the information in the text, think that deer are a positive or negative in New Zealand.

  • It must contain images, and words to convey your message.
